Fitting Verification & Validation
At Clear-Tone, we believe hearing aids should fit seamlessly into your everyday life. That’s why we go beyond a “one-size-fits-all” approach and use Real Ear Measurement (REM) to verify and validate every fitting.
What is Real Ear Measurement?
A probe microphone is a thin tube with a very small microphone inserted into the ear canal, alongside the hearing aid.
Measurements are taken of the sound output in the ear canal while different sounds and speech signals are presented.
The hearing care professional then uses this data to adjust the hearing aid's settings to achieve your individual "prescriptive target" for sound amplification.
Why It Matters
- Individualized Tuning: Every person's ear is different in size and shape, and their hearing loss is unique. REM allows the hearing care professional to account for these individual factors, rather than using generic "first fit" settings.
- Ensures Optimal Performance: The goal is to amplify soft sounds to be audible and control loud sounds so they are comfortable and don't cause further damage, a compromise that can only be accurately determined with REM.
- Improved Patient Outcomes: Patients fitted with REM often experience better clarity in speech and higher overall satisfaction with their hearing aids.
- Verification of Fitting: It provides objective verification that the hearing aid is performing as it should within your actual ear, ensuring the right level of amplification – not too much and not too little.
- Conserves Residual Hearing: By controlling amplification levels, particularly for loud sounds, REM helps to protect your remaining hearing from potential damage.
The Result: Hearing aids that fit your ears, your comfort, and your lifestyle — so you can enjoy the activities that matter most, every day.
